What is a Plaster Trap?

Above Ground Settling Tank (Plaster Trap)

A plaster trap, also known as a settling tank, is a trade waste tank. It is designed to slow the flow of water collected from art/craft workshops and dental/medical laboratories.

The internal baffles of a plaster trap slows waste water.  This allows plaster and other materials to sink to the bottom of the tank.  This results in cleaner water being discharged to the sewerage system. This prevents sewer blockages.

The waste material collected at the bottom of plaster traps needs to be cleaned out from time to time.

Viking Plastics fabricate and supply plaster traps ranging in capacity from 72 litres to 2,000 litres.  The most common capacity plaster trap is 72 litres. Small tanks are often mounted on a dolly trolley for re-location to different areas within a workshop or laboratory.  The size tank for your specific application will be determined by your Local Water Authority as part of your trade waste agreement.  Where there are space limitations, Viking Plastics can custom manufacture equivalent capacity tanks to fit the available space.

Viking Plastics supply plaster traps/settling tanks for above ground and below ground installations.
